3 Steps to Choosing Your Caster Fitting

  1. Identify the type of caster fitting you have.  The most common types  are pictured above(click on the photo to see the various names) and include:
    • Top Plate, Flange Casters
    • Hollow Stem, Bolt Hole, Kingpinless Casters
    • Grip Ring, Friction Ring Casters
    • Grip Neck, Furniure Stem, Wood Stem Casters
    • Threaded Stem, Bolt Casters
    • Round Stem, Solid Stem, Smooth Stem Casters
    • Round with Mounting Holes Casters
    • Square with Mounting Holes Casters
    • Shock Absorbing Casters, Spring Loaded Casters
    • Expanding Adapter Casters
    • Pipe Stem Casters

Stem Caster Measurements

2. If the fitting is a stem, measure the diameter and the length of the stem

    • If it is just an open bolt hole, measure the diameter of the opening. 
    • If it is threaded, note the measurements and if it is fine thread or coarse thread.
    • If it has cross holes, measure how far up the stem to the center of the hole and the diameter of the hole.

3. If the fitting is a plate, measure the distance from center-to-center for the bolt holes. 

       Then, measure the size of the plate from edge to edge.
